On Thursday afternoon, former Vice President Joe Biden, Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia, Port of Long Beach Executive Director Mario Cordero and other officials toured the Bridge Project. Assemblyman Patrick O’Donnell and State Sen. Lena Gonzalez also attended the tour of the westbound incline, looking up at the east-side tower and main span.
Biden visited the Bridge Project as part of a two-day visit to Southern California. He spent about 30 minutes onsite, where he briefly met with workers from the developer as well as the project management and construction management teams. He spoke to the attending media about overseas trade and the importance of infrastructure projects such as the new bridge.
