One Year Ago: Candidate Biden Visits the Bridge Project

As we celebrate the inauguration of President Joe Biden this week, it was just more than a year ago when then-former Vice President Biden the candidate toured the Bridge Project, along with Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia, Port of Long Beach Executive Director Mario Cordero, State Senator Lena Gonzalez and Assemblyman Patrick O’Donnell (all pictured above). The tour occurred on the westbound incline, looking up at the east tower and main span.

Last year, Biden visited the Bridge Project as part of a two-day visit to Southern California. He spent about 30 minutes onsite, where he briefly met with workers from the developer as well as the project management and construction management team. He spoke to attending media about overseas trade and the importance of infrastructure projects, such as the new bridge.

At the time, broadcast and news outlets covered the visit, including the following: NBC Channel 4, ABC Channel 7, Los Angeles Times and Long Beach Press-Telegram.
