What difference a few months makes. As you can see from the before and after photos above, construction on the approach structures on the east side of the Bridge Project has come a long way. These photos were taken near the Pico Avenue-Ocean Boulevard intersection looking east toward the city.
In the span of 6 months, falsework for the off-ramp from the eastbound decline toward the city was constructed, multiple segments were built with rebar placements and concrete pours, then the falsework was removed. Nightly closures over the last couple of weeks have enabled construction crews to touch up the approach structures by smoothing rough edges, doing minor patch work and performing other fine-tuning types of work.
With the falsework gone, if you drive through the Pico-Ocean intersection, you can really begin to see how future traffic will flow in and out of the city on these approach structures.
